First published in 1988 by Other Countries, the New York City-based Black gay men's writing collective, the short stories, interviews, play excerpts, poetry and visual art in Other Countries: Black Gay Voices is a celebration of the importance of difference. As noted in its introduction "Other Coutnries is an embodiment of the passionate belief that the lives, voices and visions of Gay Men of African heritage are inherently valuable."
